Kate Barber is specialist in corporate sustainability and communications. Kate experience lies in program development, marketing, and communications for small, mid-sized, and Fortune 500 companies and local governments as well as mobility programs. Today, Kate applies her strengths in communications and program development as The Thrival Company’s Client Relations and Communications Manager. She began her work in the industry as an assistant to project managers for The CSR Group, a sustainable business consulting firm, while studying at the University of Texas at Austin. Kate then moved to San Francisco to manage sustainability programs for a nationally-operating tourism company, Hornblower Cruises and Events. There, she launched the company’s employee volunteer program, organized volunteer events in the community, and led successful initiatives to reduce the company’s environmental footprint. Kate returned to Austin and joined the City of Austin’s Office of Sustainability, where she led communications for the City’s green business program. In the program’s first six months, Kate secured sign-ups from over 200 businesses and engaged more than 50 local businesses as official participants in the program. Kate manages mobility programs for clients, helping the companies maintain a competitive edge through flexible work arrangements such as commute solutions, telework, flexible hours, compressed workweeks and other transportation demand management programs.
